In each level, a word is displayed at the bottom of the screen, and the player must catch the letters in the word in the correct order. The player controls the character using buttons at the bottom of the screen. Each level requires the player to spell three words correctly.

To progress to the next level, the player must also collect all the eggs and stars. Beware of the enemies in the game, such as the stork, bucket, and egg man, as they pose a challenge to the player.

Lestrarleikur 2 offers additional lifelines that can be obtained by reaching the coin. The game features three levels, with the second and third levels presenting the boards in random order.
